Description: GIS coverage outlining the Oklahoma Sensitive Waters and Watersheds harboring endangered and threatened species and their critical habitats of concern as set forth in OKR10 Construction General Stormwater Permit.
Description: The Oklahoma Wellhead Protection program is part of a federal program geared to improving drinking water quality by protecting the sources of drinking water. The goal of Oklahoma’s Wellhead Protection program is to minimize the risk of pollution by limiting activities on the land around public water supply wells that might cause pollution. This layer has been generated by drawing 300 ft buffers around the 2014 Public Water Supply Well GIS layer. DEQ rules state that public drinking water wells are not to be located within 300 feet horizontally from any existing or potential source of pollution (OAC 252:626-7-4 3C). This layer is an example of a calculated fixed radius. You should additionally look at the “Wellhead Protection Areas (WHPAs)” GIS layer, that layer was generated by a Numerical Flow/Flow-and-Transport Computer Model. The buffers generated by the computer model show the potential movement of water and/or contaminates around a potential public water source. The “Wellhead Protection Area (WHPAs)” layer should be used if a modeled WHPA has been generated for the public water supply well of interest.

Description: Within Oklahoma there are some bodies or areas of groundwater the quality of which is not suitable for the beneficial uses that are designated on a default basis in OAC 252:730-7-3(b). In most cases this unsuitability is caused by natural conditions or irreversible human-induced impacts such as pollution. Consequently, it is necessary to provide for beneficial use designations for these limited areas of groundwater which are more accurate and appropriate than the default designations in OAC 252:730-7-3(b). The absence of an area of a groundwater formation from this Appendix does not necessarily indicate that area is free from contamination or has quality suitable for any particular beneficial use. OAC 785:35-7-1. directs well drillers that more stringent construction standards may be required for areas of known contamination as identified in Appendix H. Drawn in based on township and range descriptions provided in Apprendix H. See OAC Title 252, Chapter 730, Appendix H, Beneficial Use Designations for Certain Limited Areas of Groundwater for official copy of table.
